What is an Upgrade Item in Genshin Impact?
Upgrade items are unique items that aid certain Pokemon evolve. They can be obtained by spinning Pokestop discs, and also as rewards for events related to evolution.
They can be incorporated into armor, weapons trinkets, weapons, or gathering tools to provide additional effects or stats. Certain upgrades also come with an extra cosmetic effect when employed.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be inserted into weapons, armor and trinkets for an additional bonus or effect while the equipment is being utilized. They can be purchased from vendors, looted, earned as rewards, crafted or dropped. Upgrade components are required to be higher leveled than the item that they are added to. Most also require that the item have an upgrade slot. Infusions, gems, and enrichments are among the most frequently used upgrade components. Gems are upgrade components that can be placed in any kind of equipment, and provide smaller bonuses than other upgrade components. Infusions and enrichments are only able to be used on non-amulet equipment and certain legendary equipment. They can be retrieved from the equipment they're within by using an Upgrade Extraction Device, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Other upgrades such as inscriptions or glyphs can only be removed or added to the gathering tools. They can give a range of bonuses that can be used to increase the gather speed or adding additional materials. Inscriptions can be used to alter the name of an object. For example the sword could be changed to a 'Fiery Sword,' by adding a Sword Pommel of fortitude or a Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor by adding Rune of Minor Vigor.
Glyphs

You should begin to farm rare glyphs as soon as you can. They are often found in World Tier 3 dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, and other content in the endgame.
